CM launches College Fagathansi Mission at Moirang College

Chief Minister N Biren Singh launched College Fagathansi Mission at a grand function organized at Moirang College, Bishnupur district yesterday.
During the visit in the district, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and laid foundation stones for various developmental projects.
The projects for which foundation stones were laid include a football ground at Moirang Kangjeibung Lampak, construction of Type-II Quarters at Phougakchao Ikhai police station under SACI 2023-24, prefabricated structures for accommodation of CAPF Coys at Moirang under SRE (NE), Type-IV, Type-III and Type-II Quarters at Moirang police station under SACI 2023-24, a 10 bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital at Moirang, KGBV Thamnapokpi, Block Public Health Unit (BPHU) at CHC Moirang, PHSC Ngangkhalawai, development of INA Martyrs' War Memorial Complex (Museum and Auditorium components), OPD, Casualty Block, Ward and IPD Blocks for CHC Moirang, a 20-bedded Paediatric Ward at CHC Moirang and a football field with RCC gallery at Moirang Local Ground under Khelo India Scheme.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said the College Fagathansi Mission aims at developing infrastructure of colleges to provide better education facilities as a follow up initiative of the School Fagathansi Mission.
A total of 24 colleges have been covered by the Mission initially.
Infrastructure of each college will be developed with a cost of Rs 2.5 crore, he said.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh maintained that the State Government has been giving priority in the health and education sector since the formation of his Government in 2017 .
The School Fagathansi Mission was introduced to provide better school education in Government schools as everyone, irrespective of their income, wants to get their wards admitted in good schools, he said.
He continued that 60 schools, one from each Assembly Constituency, were developed and improved under the School Fagathansi Mission in the first phase.
Later, another 60 schools were chosen and developed making the total number of schools covered by the Mission 120 .
The School Fagathansi Mission has been successful.
The State has witnessed toppers from Government schools in Arts and Commerce streams, he said, adding another 120 schools would be covered under the School Fagathansi Mission 2.0 .
Stressing the importance of education, he stated that with proper education, everyone would know the importance of preserving Reserved Forests which is important for mitigating environment degradation.
He spoke on the current crisis and said his Government has been taking up all possible efforts for the betterment of the people affected by the conflict.
He sought support and cooperation of the public in Government's initiatives towards restoration of peace.
Speaking about various developmental projects, N Biren said the construction of a Water Supply Scheme at Kwakta will be completed and made operational soon, and one Ima market will be constructed at Kwakta.
He added an open gym will be constructed at Moirang.
The Chief Minister urged public to avail all the benefits of the welfare schemes taken up by the Government and thanked the people for the warm welcome accorded to him.
Education Minister Th Basanta Kumar stated that the National Education Policy 2020 was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a vision to make India a developed country.
The State Government under the leadership of N Biren Singh introduced the School Fagathansi Mission in 2019 to provide better infrastructure and facilities in Government schools.
The successful implementation of the Mission has led to Government schools bringing out toppers in Arts and Commerce streams, he said.
The Minister elaborated that the College Fagathansi Mission has been introduced to develop infrastructure and mend the shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff in colleges.
While the Mission covers 24 colleges in the first phase, arrangements have been made for improvement of infrastructure of other colleges under Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA).
A proposal has been sent to the Central Government for the same, he said.
During the programme, Chief Minister N Biren Singh handed over work orders to Principals of Moirang College, Oriental College and Imphal College.
He also distributed financial incentives of Rs 10,000 and smart phones to 10 students under "Cheingak Khonghou-Supporting the Journey" .
Three publications under the Directorate of University and Higher Education were also released at the event.
Forest and Environment Minister Th Biswajit, Works Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Water Resource Minister Awangbow Newmai, Transport Minister Khashim Vashum, MLAs Th Arunkumar, Th Shanti, Irengbam Nalini Devi, L Rameshwor, Leishiyo Keishing, Chairman, Loktak Development Authority M Asnikumar, Chief Secretary Dr Vineet Joshi, senior Government officials, Principals of Colleges and students attended the programme among others.
