Imphal, September 09 2026: Condemning the alleged selective blockade being imposed against Kuki and Zo communities, the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) has warned of imposing a total restriction on the movement of all Tangkhul and Liangmai communities in all Kuki and Zo dominated areas.

Groups from the Liangmai and Tangkhul communities have been imposing a targeted and communal blockade exclusively against the Kuki and Zo communities, and are now even attempting to intensify it, said a press release issued by COTU .

Reminding of an order issued by the State Government on August 28, 2026 which strictly prohibits road blockades and warns of prosecution without notice, COTU asserted that the same order must be implemented immediately and without bias.

If no concrete and immediate action is taken by the Government to remove the illegal blockade imposed by Tangkhul and Liangmai communities against the Kuki and Zo communities, the Kuki and Zo communities will have no option but to impose total restriction on the movement of all tangkhul and Liangmai communities in all Kuki and Zo dominated areas, it said.
