Three books released

'Machu Amasung Mami', a book of poems penned by Nishikanta was released in a function organised by Progressive Publication Society at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday.
The release function was attended by Manipur Sahitya Parishad president Longjam Joychandra Singh as chief guest, Manipur University School of Humanities former dean Polem Nabachandra as guest of honour and Progressive Publication Society president Soibam Indrakumar as president.
MU associate professor Wahengbam Kumari Chanu shared her thoughts on the book.
Meanwhile, 'Natheikhraba Yeningtha', a book authored by Dr Md Nazir Ahmed was released at Manipur Hindi Parishad hall, Old Assembly Road here on Saturday.
The releasing function organised by Manipuri Literary Society, Imphal was attended by DMU professor Dr Sagolsem Lanchenba Meetei as chief guest, Pravabati College assistant professor Dr Nepram Maya as chief guest of honour,, and Manipuri Literary Society, Imphal president Nongmaithem Kirankumar as president.
On the other hand, 'Bandi Hallakpa', a drama book penned by Khaidem Shanta was released by Wangkhei MLA Thangjam Arun Kumar as the chief guest, at the Physical Education and Sports Sciences Department, Manipur University on Sunday.
Presided over by MU Manipuri Department former head Professor Huirem Bihari, the release function was attended by playwrights Moirangthem Inao and K Raghumani Singh as guests of honour.
MUC assistant professor and cultural scholar Dr Makhonmani Mongsaba shared his thoughts on the book.
Later, the gathering observed a two-minute silence as a mark of respect to all those who have died in upholding the integrity of Manipur ever since the conflict broke out on May 3 .
