Imphal, January 07 2024:
The armed National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM) reportedly celebrated its 12th Raising Day on Sunday and extended revolutionary greetings to the people.
According to an NRFM statement issued by information and publicity secretary Sanajaoba Meitei, outfit's 12th Raising Day celebrations were held at all its units wherein fitting tributes were paid to revolutionaries martyred during the Course of the movement for restoration of the lost sovereignty of Manipur.
While maintaining that NRFM will not compromise on anything other than regaining sovereignty of Manipur, the statement also recalled how the outfit was established after abolishing KCP-MC.
It said that KCP-MC was formed on August 3, 2007 and waged armed revolution for restoring sovereignty.
As armed revolution alone could not bring much progress under military council and necessitated ideological warfare as per emerg-tag situations, the KCP-MC was abolished and converted into United Revolutionary Front (URF) on January 7, 2012 .
At the time when the outfit progressed significantly, 80 URF cadres surrendered to the government with around 70 arms on October 14, 2014 thereby putttag the outfit in complete shame before the entire people of Manipur.
The October 14, 2014 incident compelled the outfit to change the nomenclature to NRFM without diluting party's constitution and the outfit managed to move forward with drug war and more cadres.
However, another unfortunate incident happened on December 4, 2023 as 25 NRFM cadres led by a former UNLF cadre merged with UNLF-Pambei and sneaked into the ceasefire camp of the latter, the NRFM statement said.
The statement further said that the low key Raising Day celebration at 324 unit of the outfit was attended by organisation secretary as chief guest while the celebration at central headquarters was attended by outfit's chairman, general secretary, finance secretary and defence secretary.
They led cadres and well-washers in paying fitting tribute to fallen revolutionaries and those killed in the present war waged by Kuki terrorists.
