Imphal, January 07 2024:
The Thawai Mirel has asked all the legislators, especially of the ruling party to resign if they could not work out a solution to the protracted crisis in Manipur.
Speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club today , Thawai Mirel convenor Paonam Sanahanbi said that the Government lodging FIR against civilians and arresting Editors of local dailies instead of putting maximum efforts to end the conflict is unfortunate.
She said that arresting Editors is a threat to the press freedom and suppression of the voice of the people.
Urging the Government to drop the plan to hold the training course for the new IRB recruits outside Manipur, Sanahanbi said that they won't object if the Government choose a safe place for the new recruits of the IRB from among the Kuki populace.
People are tired of being a sacrificial goat of the Centre, she said and accused the Central Government of using the Kukis to wipe out Meeteis.
Saying that they are worried about the future of Manipur, Sanahanbi continued that they are ready to launch a stern agitation if the Government fails to solve the issue in Manipur at the earliest.
