Kuki militants open fire

Even as the Noney Battalion of Assam Rifles 'recovered' weapons and other war-like store from Aimol village in Kangpokpi today, Kadangband, a village located in the periphery of Imphal East and Kangpokpi, has been attacked by Kuki militants yet again.
The attack at Kadangband was launched from Bethel, a Kuki village in the intervening night of January 6 and 7.According to reliable sources, the Kuki militants stationed at Bethel fired some rounds of bullets towards Kadandband Part II Mahadev hill range.
There was an exchange of fire after village volunteers who were guarding Kadangband retaliated.
There however is no report of any injury during the gunfight, said the source.
Meanwhile, IGAR (East) in a statement said, the weapons and other items recovered Aimol Village include one SLR, one HK 33 Assault Rifles, one single shot barrel gun, 20 live rounds (7.62mm) of SLR, two hand grenades and one radio set with antenna.
