Imphal, September 09 2026:
The Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (JFD) has urged the Chief Minister and the Home Minister to persuade the Central Government and make sure that an official notification is issued for updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) with 1951 as the base year.
A public consultation programme on the issue of updating the NRC was held today at Ideal Teachers' Training Academy, Sajiwa, Imphal East.
Speaking at the consultation programme, JFD con- venor Jeetendra Ningomba said that it would go ahead with its agitation announced earlier if no official notification is issued for updating the NRC with 1951 as the base year at the earliest.
He also questioned the State Government's failure to adopt a concrete decision to update the NRC with 1951 as the base year.
He went on to ask if the State Government was awaiting Centre's instruction on the issue.
Jeetendra Ningomba asserted that the JFD is all prepared to prevent State Government and Central Government employees from attending offices with effect from September 11 .
