Imphal, September 09 2026: The Working Committee of the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has taken strong exception to the registration of an FIR against Daisingam Malangmei alias Ambrose D Kamei, alias Ambrose Freebird, over his Facebook posts.

In a press note, the TNL said Ambrose is an educator, musician and social advocate who speaks and stands for upholding the rights, identity and dignity of the Nagas.

Maintaining that his peaceful advocacy on social media does not infringe upon any law or pose any threat or challenge to any sovereign State, the TNL said the registration of an FIR against him at the Cyber Crime Police Station amounted to a violation of the freedom of speech and expression guaranteed under Article 19(1)(a) of the Constitution.

Expressing serious concern over the "undue flexing of power by the law-enforcement agency without adequately examining whether his social media posts warranted legal action or constituted an offence", the Tangkhul Naga group urged the relevant authorities to adopt a judicious approach and conduct a fair and impartial investigation into the case.

The TNL added that it would be constrained to consider the investigating agency biased and unfair and launch a democratic movement if the authorities failed to do so.
