RNLM objects FIR against Ambrose D Kamai

Noney, September 09 2026: The Rongmei Naga Luphwam Manipur (RNLM) expressed deep concern and strong obj ection over the registration of FIR against Ambrose D Kamai (Ambrose Free Bird) in connection with his social-media expressions concerning the rights, history and concerns of the Naga community.

'We believe that raising concerns about injustice, identity, history and the rights of a community should not, by itself, be treated as a criminal act.

Public expression and peaceful articulation of grievances are essential in a democratic society and must be handled with fairness and responsibility', said a press statement by RNLM, public/information wing.

It further said that the timing and manner of the FIR have also raised serious questions among the public regarding selective application of the law and unequal scrutiny of public voices.

Expressing that it respects the authority of law-enforcement agencies to investigate genuine offences, RNLM stated that such powers must not be used in a manner that creates fear, intimidation or the impression of targeting a particular community.

The Rongmei Naga Luphwam therefore urged the authorities to review the matter objectively, consider the complete context of the statements, and ensure that the law is applied impartially and without discrimination.
