Patient donates eyes, kidneys

Kripadashini Advanced Hospital & Research Institute, Palace compound informed that a 'brain-dead' male patient admitted in the hospital on February 7 has pledged to donate both eyes and kidneys so that the vital organs could save lives of others.
According to a statement of Kripadashini Institute, a patient named Meisnam Dina of Chinga Makha Leikai was admitted at the hospital on February 7 with severe blood vessel burst on left side of the brain.
The 60 vears' old patient was immediately admitted to ICU ward of the hospital and provided necessary treatment.
Despite best efforts of the doctors, the patient unfortunately reached un-recovery stage and accordingly family members approached hospital authority for donating vital organs of the patients.
With the approval of the patient's family, the hospital authority communicated with officials of Mohan Foundation, with the latter's medical team swiftly evacuating the patient to JNIMS hospital where the eyes and kidneys are were harvested, the statement said adding that Dina was third patient to donate kidney at the hospital and first patient in Manipur to donate both the eyes.
