State League: SU, KIYC romp as KLASA, MPSC split points

Sagolband United (SU) and Kshetri Iril Mapal Youth Club (KIYC) racked up full points with relative ease while Keinou Library & Sports Association (KLASA) and Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) settled for a 1-1 draw in the Manipur State League on Friday.
Ronik Moirangthem and Thokchom Adison Singh scored a double each to help SU overpower Young Physiques Union (YPHU) in their Group A encounter at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong.
The Sagolband squad dominated the game from the word go and broke the opposition's defence at will.
They roared into a 2-0 lead inside 11 minutes when Ronik struck in the opener just eight minutes into the game before he doubled the advantage in a three-minute span.
Then Thongam Lenin Singh (45+3) tripled the lead in the dying seconds of first-half add time.
After conceding three goals in the first period, YPHU reorganised their defence while also made some effort upfront but they rarely threatened.
YPHU withstood SU's onslaught for the major part of the second period before they wilted under pressure towards the end of the game.
Thokchom Adison replicated teammate Ronik's first-half heroics, Scoring a quick double (85, 88) in the space nine games.
KIYC, meanwhile, cruised past DMRAO 3-0 in their Group B match to stay second with 19 points from seven games.
KIYC stamped their authority in the first half after Somishon Shirak opened the scoring in the 27th minute, followed by Konjengbam Jim Singh who extended the lead in the 33rd minute.
They added a goal in the second minute of stoppage MPSC ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
KLASA went ahead in the 43rd minute courtesy of a strike by Soraisam Dhanachandra as MPSC drew level in the second minute of first-half added time with Khem Bahadur on target.
Neither side were able to break the deadlock in the second half to settle for a point each.
KLASA remained second in Group A standings with 16 points from nine game.
