Kisan Reddy to open Manipur Sangai Festival-2022

Union minister of tourism Kisan Reddy will open the 11th edition of Manipur Sangai Festival-2022 in the presence of Union MSME minister Narayan Rane on November 21, said tourism director W Ibohal.
Speaking to media persons on Friday, director Ibohal informed that estimated cost for organising the tourism festival this time will be more than Rs 10 crore along with revealing that the special attraction of this year's festival will be demonstration on how pilots manage flight inside cockpit and star-gazing through telescope.
According to W Ibohal, preparations for Manipur Sangai Festival-2022 to be conducted at 30 different venues across the state till November 30 are almost complete and delegates from Thailand, Myanmar, Brunei, France and USA have confirmed their participation in the festival.
Cultural troupes from Thailand, Japan and Ban gladesh will also take part in the festival and showcase their cultural items along side display on Manipuri drum by Japanese artistes.
As part of the festival, different programmes will be conducted at venues like Hapta Kangjeibung, Moirang Khunou, MSFDS, City convention centre, Ibudhou Marjing complex at Heingang, Khuman Lampak sports complex, Mapal Kangjeibung, Kangla Kangjeibung, Nilakuthi, Behiang, Mao and Senapati bazar, Ibohal said, adding that demonstration on how pilots manage flight inside cockpit, moon and stargazing through telescope are new programmes included in this year's edition.
Another attraction will be mixed martial arts and other sports activities at Khuman Lampak sports complex while preparation is being made to showcase polo statue through light show for the first time at Heingang, he added.
Though the tourism festival is being organised by the government, it is the people who will add colour to the festival, Ibohal said and appealed to people of the state to help government in making the festival a unique and successful one.
He also said that organisers are considering bus service to and from some venues like Hapta Kangjeibung, Moirang Khunou and Heingang for convenience of movement of visitors.
According to Ibohal, state tourism department has Rs 10 crore for the festival but the cost of organising the festival could be more and some departments are helping the tourism department.
The State government made every effort to open the festival by President Droupadi Murmu but she wouldn't be attending due to her hectic schedules.
The press conference was also attended by deputy director (tourism) Jotin Sapam.
