Back Govt initiatives on Act East Policy: Letpao

Tribal Affairs and hills minister Letpao Haokip has called upon the people to extend whole hearted support to the developmental initiatives taken up by the government for smooth implementation of the Act East Policy.
Speaking as chief guest at the closing ceremony of 18th MYC Inter Unit Sports 2022 held at Galngam Lentol ground here on Friday, minister Letpao mentioned that in reply to the memorandum submitted to Union road transport & highways minister Nitin Gadkari during the latter's visit to Moreh as part of election campaign for repairing of inter-village roads (IVRs) in Moreh town, the ministry has released funds for development of all the IVRs and the construction work will begin soon.
He also announced that considering lack of educational opportunities for students of Moreh town, a new international level school will soon be established in the border town.
The minister further exhorted Moreh denizens to live together in harmony and support the government for further development of Moreh.
The programme was also attended by Hill Tribal Council president Victor Limthang Thouthang as functional president and Meetei Council president M Thoiba Meitei, Tamil Sangam general secretary Bala Subramaniam and first MYC women executive Lamkhoneng Touthang as guests of honour, while ADC Chandel chairman Lhukhosei Zou and 5 Assam Rifles deputy commandant Mahesh were present as special guests.
Meanwhile, in the final match of the veteran's tournament Phaicham Veng FC beat Ngamkhai Veng FC 2-0 via the penalty shootout.
