Three alleged abductors held

Churachandpur police arrested three individuals involved in abducting betel leaf traders, reportedly for ransom.
One Soibam Romendro Singh (38) s/o S Shamu Singh of Bazar Makha, Thoubal Achouba approached Churachandpur police station at about 9.20 last night claiming that 2 of his partners had been kidnapped by unknown persons who demanded Rs 1 lakh for running betel leaf business.
Romendro said that he and two of his partners came to Churachandpur in a Mahindra Scorpio in connection with their business.
On reaching New Bazar at about 8 pm, some unknown men forcibly escorted them back to their vehicle and demanded Rs 1 lakh.
As they were shifted by the unknown men, Romendro managed to jump off the moving vehicle and eventually approached the police where he narrated the incident.
Two of his partners identified as Loitongbam Chandrakishor Singh (26) s/o L Noren Singh of Athokpam Makha Leikai, Thoubal and Sairem Malemnganba Singh (26) s/o S Tarun Kumar Singh of Thoubal Mela Ground however were whisked away by the miscreants.
Immediately after registering an FIR, police acted on the complaint filed by S Romendro.
Two teams of the district police, one led by Inspector N Thangzamuan and SI B Zairemthang and the other by ASI N Nengkhanpau swung into action.
They conducted search operations in suspected areas and eventually they managed to track the abductors and the victims.
Their Scorpio was intercepted at Lhangjol cemetery area along with three abductors.
The abductors identified as Thongmang Haokip (43) s/o (L) Ngamson Haokip of Emmau Street, HQ Veng, CCpur; Khaithianlun Vaiphei (22) s/o Tinkholal Vaiphei of Leisang village, CCpur and Kaiminthang (20) s/o Lamboi Haokip of Lhangnem village, CCpur were instantly arrested at the spot.
Police sources said that the abductors belong to KNF(S), one of the many groups under the SoO with the Government.
One Glock pistol of unknown calibre along with a magazine; two-line seal/stamp in the name of - Secretary, Kuki National Organisation (KNO) and Chairman, Kuki National Organisation (KNO), one mobile phone and one Hyundai Creta car were recovered from their possession.
They reportedly would be in police remand for 7 days.
