CCpur police rescues abducted duo, nab three

Imphal, November 18 2022:
Churachandpur district police rescued two abducted persons and arrested three out of five persons allegedly involved in the abduction and recovered weapons.
The arrestees have been identified as Thongmang Haokip (43) son of (L) Ngamson Haokip of Emmau Street, HQ Veng; Khaithianlun Vaiphei (22) son of Tinkholal Vaiphei of Leisang village; and Kaiminthang (20) son of Lamboi Haokip of Lhangnem village, all in Churachandpur district.
The three are cadres of KNF (S), which is a SoO signatory.
According to police, around 9:20 pm Thursday, one Soibam Romendro Singh (38) son of S Shamu Singh of Thoubal Achouba Bazar Makha reported to OC of Churachandpur police station stating that he along with two friends namely Loitongbam Chandrakishor Singh (26) son of L Noren Singh of Athokpam Makha Leikai and Sairem Malemnganba Singh (26) son of S Tarun Kumar Singh of Thoubal Mela Ground went to Churachandpur in a Scor-pio.'SUV (MN01AG/7201) in connection with a betel leaf business.
On reaching New Bazar, Churachandpur town around 8 pm, five unknown persons forcibly took them in their vehicle towards an unknown destination and demanded Rs 1 lakh for running betel leaf business.
Romendro managed to jump out of the moving ve hide and contacted the police.
Subsequent to registration of an FIR, two teams of Churachandpur police station led by officer in-charge Inspector NThangzamuan, SI B Zairemthang and ASI N Nengkhanpau conducted searches in suspected areas like Gangte Veng, Mission Veng, Lhangjol area, etc.
The Scorpio SUV along with the abducted two and three alleged abductors were consequently intercepted in Lhangjol cemetery area, the police informed.
The trio was immediately arrested along with one Glock Pistol with magazine, one each line seal/stamp in the name of Kuki National Organisation (KNO) secretary and Kuki National Organisation (KNO) chairman, one mobile phone and a Hyundai Creta car (MN03A3759), the police added.
