Antimicrobial Awareness Week-2022 observed

Antimicrobial Resistance Stewardship Programme Implementation Committee, JNIMS observed World Antimicrobial Awareness Week-2022 on the theme of 'Preventing Antimicrobial Resistance Together' at the conference hall of the Institute on Friday.
As part of the observance, a symposium on the topic 'Continued Medical Education' was organised attended by JNIMS director Prof L Deben, MS Dr Kh Lokeshwar, head of departments and doctors from various departments.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof L Deben pointed out that antimicrobial resistance has become of the raging issues in the world, slowly taking on the form of a pandemic.
As per a survey conducted by Indian Council of Research last year, it was reported that antimicrobial resistance had increased from 5-10 percent.
He continued that there are various reasons for developing antimicrobial resistance, the main reason being not consuming important foods needed by the body regularly.
Thus, antimicrobial resistance should not be taken lightly, he stressed.
Prof Deben then said that the symposium will allow the authority to spread awareness to people working in different professions.
He further expressed belief that it will also help in efforts to take control of various pathogens.
