Bishnupur, November 18 2022:
M Uttamkumar Singh, who is the personal assistant (PA) of Moirang MLA Thongam Shanti Singh, has clarified that the recent spurt in fraudulent activities of some miscreants who collected money from women vendors and elders in Moirang Keithel and other areas in the name of the MLA has no connection with the MLA or his office.
In a release, Moirang MLA's PA M Uttamkumar stated that as per a post on a Facebook page Masini Keke Moirang posted on Thursday, two unknown people posing as MLA's representatives collected an amount of Rs 3550 and took photo assuring to provide loan grant from a Moirang Keithel vegetable vendor, named, Konjengbam Ruhini Devi of Kwaksiphai.
They also gave her a non-working mobile number-9856771901, stating that further communication regarding the matter can be done through the said number, the PA added.
The PA continued that after learning about the post, MLA's representatives along with the police enquired about the matter with K Ruhini who also corroborated the event.
Such action is a direct attempt to defame the Moirang MLA.
All public welfare works are done through his Moirang Office and the MLA has never asked any of his workers to collect money and documents from roadside vendors for providing any government benefit.
Hence, the people of Moirang should stay alert from such fraudsters who are hell-bent on defaming the name of the MLA, Uttamkumar cautioned.
Informing that a case has been registered at Moirang police station for arresting the culprits, he also said public can come to the MLA's Moirang office for any queries.
