Torch rallies against liquor policy continue

Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA) and other women's organisations continue to oppose the government's decision to legalise liquor in Manipur by taking out mass torch rallies in different parts of the state.
In a release, CADA informed that a mass torch rally was organised jointly by All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Thoubal District United Women's Development Organisation (Thoubal Ima), Leirongthel Women Development Association and CADA at Leirongthel in Thoubal district on Thursday.
The rally which commenced at 7 pm from Leirongthel Uyungmakhong ground passed through different areas of Leirongthhel and ended at the starting point with protestors shouting slogans against liquor legalisation and demanding revoking of the order, it added.
CADA further mentioned that another mass torch rally was taken out jointly by The Pungsumbam Leikai Women's Welfare Association, Takyelkhongbal Maning Leikai; Nupi Samaj and CADA around 7:30 pm Thursday at Takyelkhongbal in Imphal West district.
The rally began from Takyelkhongbal Maning Leikai and after passed through various localities before returning to the starting point.
The protestors also shouted slogans opposing liquor legalisation and demanding revocation of the state cabinet's decision to legalise liquor, it conveyed.
