MMA fighter Satgunhao Kipgen brings more laurels

Manipur's Mixed Martial Arts fighter from Kangpokpi, Satgunhao Kipgen won the gold medal at the recently concluded All India Mix Martial Arts Federation (AIMMAF) National Championship in Goa.
The young MMA fighter also won a goal medal at Goa Night Fight Pro Fighters and got selected for the upcoming world championship.
Considering his great achievements, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi (KIK), Thadou Inpi, KSO, TSA, Kipgen Khanglai Kiloikhom, families, and well wishes rolled out a red-carpet welcome for the MMA fighter at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport when he returned from Goa on Monday morning.
They welcomed him with garland and traditional shawl Saipikhup while Rev.Thangsat Kipgen invoked Thanksgiving prayer before approaching his native home in Kangpokpi district.
The MMA fighter was also accorded a warm welcome at his native village Saparmeina followed by another grand reception at Kangpokpi town by the local bodies including Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation and Kangpokpi Youth Union.
At the reception ceremony held in Kangpokpi town, Kangpokpi Town Churches Fellowship chairman Rev K Hangshing prayed for the well-being of the young fighter as the MMA fighter knelt on his knee while praising the Lord for his great achievements.
Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisation, and Kangpokpi Youth Union leaders also presented the MMA fighter with a traditional shawl and a muffler as a mark of appreciation and encouragement.
A resident of Vengthah Kangpokpi Ward No 3, Paomin Kipgen and Hatnu Kipgen, a couple, who sponsored the young MMA fighter organised a reception feast at their residence after the formal reception ceremony at Kangpokpi Town Committee office.
Earlier, Chief Minister N Biren had also felicitated Satgunhao Kipgen at his secretariat after he won a gold medal at the AIMMAF National Open MMA Championship in Delhi this year.
The chief minister, during his interaction with the MMA fighter, motivated him to continue his practice dedicatedly to achieve more success in the future and the young fighter shortly accomplished the wishes of the CM by bagging another gold medal recently at t he Goa event.
Satgunha, who lost his father at a tender age, pursued his career in MMA with the support of his widowed mother and his four siblings, which ultimately helped him in bagging the first gold medal in the Northeast Fight Championship held in Guwathati in 2019.In 2021, he secured a silver medal in the Interstate Wushu Championship, 2020 and won a gold medal in Hero Pro Fight Night, 2021 in Maharashtra and a silver medal in the All India Mixed Martial Arts Federation National Mixed Martial Arts Championship held in Bangalore before his recent achievements.
Satgunhao Kipgen aims to become a successful UCF player in the history of India and Ma nipur and his priority at the moment is to train in Thailand.
