MLA Rameshwar attends Nupi Lal event at Hojai

Manipuri Women's Association, Assam (Hojai) and Uma Handloom Committee, Hojai jointly observed the 83rd Nupi Lal Day at the hall of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Hojai on Monday.
The observance function was attended by Keirao MLA and PDA chairman L Rameshwar, Hojai MLA Ramkrishna Ghosh, Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president Longjam Memchoubi, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association president Yumkhaibam Kunjarani, Manipur Women's Association, Assam president M Chaobihal and Uma Handloom Committee, Hojai district president Ch Indira as presidium members.
In his speech, MLA L Rameshwar lauded Manipuri women settling in Assam for remembering the historic Nupi Lal in which women of Manipur showed their courage by fighting against the mighty British without ahy arms.
He said that Meeteis residing in different parts of the world are all one and Manipur is their origin.
He appealed to Meeteis in Assam to put more efforts in sports as Meetei community is very much suited to games and sports and many people of the community have brought laurels for the country and state.
Later, MLA L Rameshwar laid the foundation stone for construction of Manipuri Sahitya Parishad building at Hojai.
