Two notifications for holiday list create confusion

Imphal, December 12 2022:
Two different notifications for holiday list of 2023 issued by the general administrative department (record and library section) of the state government are creating confusion among the people.
Both the notifications were issued by deputy secretary Sunanda Thokchom.
The first notification was issued on November 14 and the second one on November 15 in suppression of the earlier one.
The earlier notification had 25 general holidays, 42 restricted holidays and 21 public holidays while the latter notification had 30 general, 37 restricted and 22 public holidays.
New Year's Day, Dol Yatra, May Day, Janma Asthami and Mera Chaorel Houba, which were included in the restricted holidays, were added in the general holiday in the second notification.
New Year's Day, which was not in the public holiday list in the first notification, was added in the second notification.
The notification stated that the government employees will be authorised to avail two holidays from the list of restricted holidays.
Holidays for Idul Fitr and Ratha Yatra (Kang) may be replaced in respect of hill districts and Manipur Bhawans in Kolkata, Delhi and Guwahati by holidays of local importance after taking prior approval of the government by January 31, 2023 .
The two festivals may, however, be included as restricted holidays in hill districts and Manipur Bhawans, it added.
Meanwhile, Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Manipur Up Prant has expressed appreciation for the second notification, which has reinstated Janma Asthami in the general holiday list, and clearing the confusion among the Hindus in the state.
