MNCA Plate Tournament : NAPSA climb atop Group A table with 2 wicket victory over KIYC, SDC post first win

NAPSA-Kha Imphal climbed atop Group A table in the ongoing 7th MNCA Plate Tournament with a 2-wicket beating of KIYC for the third victory at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium today.
NAPSA bowled out toss winners KIYC for 153 runs in 27.2 overs on the back of Tongbram Dhanakuber's five wicket haul (5/25) and overcame pressure to chase down the target in 34.5 overs riding on Dhanakuber's unbeaten 30 and a sensible knock by Bipin Singh Ningthoujam (46).KIYC started on a good note not but wickets kept falling after Rocky Yumnam of NAPSA undone Mujibur for 14.Nepram Richer of NAPSA then bowled out Azmad Kh for 4-ball duck before removing Md Abdulla Khan for 20 to reduce KIYC to 48 for 3 in 9.4 overs.
Star of the day Dhanakuber then removed Aneesh Ahamed (12) for the fourth wicket and Md Kaosar for 30 who looked to have settled for the fifth wicket as KIYC reached 90 for 5 in 15.1 overs.
From 90 for 5, KIYC slumped to 96 for 8 with Dhanakuber claiming his third in the form of SS Asique Luhan and Heisnam Boney removing Md Zakariya (0) and Md Aman (1) in succession.
Tongbram Dhanakuber then bowled out Md Yaseer Khan (17) and Md Tajimur (1) to end the innings as Md Abdul Hamid tried to anchor the innings with an unbeaten 35 off 37 runs.
In the chase, NAPSA faced stiff opposition and slipped to 22 for 3 in 5.2 overs with Azmad Khan removing both the openers cheaply and Md Aman trapping Richard Singh lbw for the third wicket.
Bipin Singh who came in opener L Electronic then kept the scoreboard ticking and took the team past the 100 run mark before he edged Azmad Khan and was caught behind by KIYC wicketkeeper Mujibur for 46 runs.
Azmad Khan then completed his four wicket haul (4/ 32) by trapping Albert Sorokhaibam lbw for 3 but Tongbram Dhanakuber hit unbeaten 30 off 20 balls to take NAPSA to winning 154 in 34.5 overs with two wickets left in hand.
Dhanakuber was eventually adjudged man of the match.
Meanwhile at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College ground, SDC-Laipham Khunou beat YWC-Patsoi by 3 wickets to end their 3-game winless run.
Put in to bat first, YWC-Patsoi were bundled out for a total of 147 runs in 39.2 overs and SDC fought hard to eclipse the total in 38.2 overs.
Laikhuram Jagat (27), Ashishkumar Wakongthem (29) and Konsham Kishan (27) were main run getters for YWC-P before the slumped to 147 as Thangboy Doungel (3/ 22 in 7 overs) claimed three key wickets and Deepak Sahani, Bollanath and Khundrakpam Subhachandra picked up two wickets each.
In the chase, Khundrakpam Lemba (21), Konjengbam Monish (19), Donny (32) gave initial momentum but the team lost ground and were reduced to 116 for 7 in 30.7 overs with Laikhuram Jagat (3/19) and Thoungamba M (2/23) wreaked havoc.
However, Mayanglambam Manjit (18 not out) and Kaleb Singh (9 not out) played a crucial 8th wicket partnership to guide SDC to victory.
Donny Laishram was adjudged man of the match.
