Tribal Film Fest

The valedictory function of the three day first Tribal Film Festival was held at Tamenglong headquarters, yesterday.
The film festival was sponsored by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India and supported by DIPR Manipur.
Tamenglong MLA Janghemlung Panmei, Noney SDO Pouralung Kabui, DIPR Director Bal Krishna Singh, social worker Akinsin Gangmei, District Horticulture Officer Chunguang Pamei and former ADC member Ramningle Pame attended the valedictory function as presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest, Janghemlung Panmei said that organising such festivals willhelp in taking tribal films to greater heights.
He also said that film is one of the best mediums to promote culture and expand basic knowledge of the world around us.
Saying that tribal people usually have different folktales, myths etc, the MLA appealed to the DIPR Manipur to take up certain initiatives to popularise the art of film-making among the tribal populace.
DIPR Director Bal Krishna Singh, on the other hand, thanked former Tamenglong DC, Armstrong Pame for getting the financial support from the Central Government to hold the first tribal film festival in Tamenglong.
He also congratulated the Hombill Entertainment for hosting the film festival and assured to lend assistance to promote tribal films.
Bal Krishna Singh also said that he would organise a certificate course on film-making soon.
Over 30 tribal films were screened during the three day film festival while awards were given to some film-makers.
The three day film festival was held under the theme "Fostering Cultural Renaissance through Art and Entertainment" .
