Unidentified miscreants reportedly opened fire at the residence of working president of Manipur People's Party (MPP) at Bashikhong PHC road around 7:30 pm on Saturday.
The party's working president Ningombam Ojit, meanwhile, has sought clarification from whosoever was involved in the act and also urged the authority concerned to investigate the same.
Addressing media persons at the party's office near Pologround, here, on Sunday, Ojit informed that unidentified persons numbering around 7 fired multiple rounds at his residence on Saturday evening.

While demanding clarification from those involved in the act, Ningombam Ojit, who is also among three candidates running for the post of the party's presidency, the election of which slated to be held on January 28, informed that as he has not violated party's principle it is very unfortunate that he has been targeted.
"If at all there is any mistake that the miscreants think I have committed, all misunderstandings could be sorted out, provided the opportunity is given," he reason.
Ajit also urged the authority concerned to look into the matter and help in bringing out the truth.
