CADA's fight against alcohol legalisation continues

Imphal, January 15 2023:
In continuation of the ongoing democratic protests launched against the partial lifting of prohibition on alcohol, the Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol staged protests across various localities in association with Ideal women organisations today.
At Laiphrakpam under Imphal West district, the All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Lamjing Meira Lup, Laiphrakpam and CADA jointly staged a sit-in protest against alcohol legalisation.
Separately, All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Patsoi Part IV Nupi Lup and CADA held a sit-in protest at Patsoi Part IV Makha Leikai under Imphal West district.
Lastly, All Manipur Women Social Reformation & Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj), Heiyaikon Apunba Nupi Samaj and CADA jointly organised a sit-in protest at Saiton Heiyaikon under Bishnupur district today.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Laipubam Ashalata, meira paibi member, urged the State Government to revoke the decision to legalise alcohol in the interest of the youth and cautioned that more intense agitations if their demand goes unheeded.
It is worth noting that protestors across these three locations shouted many slogans in protest against the legalisation of alcohol and urged the State Government to roll back alcohol legalisation.
Some of these slogans include "Save Manipur youth from alcohol abuse", "Revoke alcohol legalisation" and "Alcohol legalisation cannot be enforced in Manipur" .
