Trade bodies urge MoS Pankaj to bail state out of financial distress

Imphal, January 15 2023:
A delegation of trade bodies of Manipur met union minister of state for finance Pankaj Chaudhary on Saturday and urged for reducing the state share for centrally sponsored schemes.
During the meeting, the delegation brought up various issues and challenges faced by trade bodies in the state and highlighted the poor financial condition of the state.
They then urged the union MoS to reduce the state share for centrally sponsored schemes from 10 per cent to 5 per cent.
They also appealed for grant in aid to improve industrial infrastructure, enhance logistic compensation and exempt inpome tax for at least 10 years for industrial units and enterprises of the state.
They further proposed special clause in the national industrial policy to facilitate major corporates and MNCs to invest in the state in order to create more employment opportunities and improve the state's economy.
Several top and emerging entrepreneurs, industrialists and leaders of trade organisations of the state were part of the delegation that met the union MoS.
