Khangabok School celebrates silver jubilee

The New Public Higher Secondary School celebrated its silver jubilee day at the school campus, Khangabok in Thoubal district on Sunday during which its meritorious students were encouraged with presentation of awards.
Education minister Th Basantakumar and Khangabok MLA Okram Surjakumar attended the celebration as chief guest and president respectively while chairman of the school's governing body M Rameshwor, secretary Dr Kh Jugindro, Khangabok ZP former member Kh Rajmohan, Khangabok Part-1 GP former pradhan N Mala, Khangabok Part 3 former pradhan Moirangthem Ningthemjao, PHE Thoubal Division executive engineer N Livingstone, District Hospital Chandel specialist (community medicine) Dr L Deben, MSPDCL Kakching sub-division manager L Shyamson and PHC Wangoo Laipham MO Dr Kh Bishworjit were the guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Basantakumar emphasised on the need for bringing development in the education sector and highlighted various initiatives taken up by the government in this regard.
The minister said that he is always eager to attend programmes attended by students as he could get the opportunity to interact with them and understand their grievances.
In his address, MLA Sura-jkumar highlighted the roles played by private schools in the education sector of the state as government schools alone are not enough to ensure better education.
He stressed the need for focusing on quality education instead of just focusing on getting higher marks in examinations and also appealed to all concerned to refrain from using or supporting unfair means in education as it will hamper the students in the long run.
Best Student of the Academic Year 2022 was presented to Thokchom Sandhya Devi of class X, Best Competitor for Academic Session 2022 to Velentina Ningthoujam of class IX and Highest Mark Scorer in HSLCE 2022 to Thongam Gibson.
They were presented one bicycle each along with awards donated by different individuals.
Several other students and teachers were also honoured on the occasion for their excellent performances in different areas.
