National Unity Day observed

To commemorate the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) was observed by the District Administration, Kakching at DC complex, Kakching yesterday.
As a part of the observation, a Unity Run from Kakching Bazar to the DC complex was organized which saw enthusiastic participation of students and officials.
Deputy Commissioner, Somorjit Salam led the gathering at the NIC Hall in paying floral tribute to the portrait of Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
The DC also administered Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to the participants which comprised of DLOs, students, teachers and staff of the District Administration.
Separately, the NSS of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Maram organized a 'Run for Unity' on the occasion on October 31 .
According to a statement, the run was flagged off from the school basketball ground and culminated at the Maram center village under the leadership of NSS Program Officers H Titus and Sr Sonal Devendrabhai Vaghela CCV.
The main aim of 'Run for Unity' is to spread the message of unity, integrity, peace and security of the nation among the people, the statement added.
NSS PO H Titus flagged off the Unity Run and joined the volunteers for the run.
Speaking on the occasion, he reminded the gathering of the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and paid rich tribute to him.
Before the Unity Run, the volunteers observed a minute's silence as a mark of respect in honour of the deceased in the tragic accident in Morbi, Gujarat.
Then the volunteers pledged to keep the unity and integrity among the community and spread the message of peace and harmony to their fellow citizens.
Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated National Unity Day at Moreh by organising a Unity Run yesterday, a statement from IGAR (S) has informed.
The run was preceded by a small brief on the importance of Unity Day to re-affirm the inherent strength and resilience of our nation to withstand the actual and potential threat to our unity.
A total of 75 individuals from civil societies participated in the run which concluded at the Helipad.
This was followed by the Pledge of Unity by the participants.
Light snacks were served to the participants and the event was concluded with a group photograph to enshrine the spirit of unity in Moreh.
Lastly, Modi Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organized 'Freedom Run 3.0' on the occasion of National Unity Day at St John's School, Chandel district and at Pallel Garrison, Kakching district, Manipur yesterday, a statement from IGAR (S) has informed.
A total of 15 teachers and 150 students and 35 troops of Modi Battalion from Pallel Garrison participated in the event.
The run culminated with a motivational lecture on 'National Unity Day' followed by tea and refreshments.
