Extension plea disposed

An application filed for extension of judicial custody of Mark Thangmang Haokip was disposed of by the Court of the Session Judge Imphal West yesterday.
The order was announced yesterday after it was kept on reserve after a hearing on October 21.Rattana Ngasepam, Additional SP IUCAW Imphal had filed the application praying for extension of judicial custody period of Mark Thangmang Haokip from 90 days to 180 days to enable the completion of the investigation.
Mark Haokip, a self-styled president of secessionist outfit 'Government of the People's Democratic Republic of Kukiland' was arrested on May 24 last from New Delhi for his alleged involvement in a conspiracy "for secession from India and to wage or attempt to wage war, or abetting waging of war against the Government of India".
Mark hails from Molnom village in Churachandpur and is lodged at Sajiwa Jail.
The application for extension of time filed by the Investigation Officer will hot affect the statutory period of 180 days as provided .
by Section 167 CrPC (Manipur Amendment), said the Court of the Session Judge Imphal West disposing the application.
