Social service conducted ahead of MANITEX

Ahead of the Manipur International Textile Expo (MANITEX) 2022, the Directorate of Handloom and Textiles and Imphal Municipal Corporation conducted a social service along the road from North AOC to Urban Haat, Nilakuthi today.
MANITEX 2022 will be held from November 5 to 14 at Urban Haat, Nilakuthi.
The social service was conducted under the theme "Keeping City Clean" and it started from North AOC.
Manipur Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited (MHHDCL) Chairman and Lamlai AC MLA Khongbantabam Ibomcha, Hiyanglam AC MLA Dr Yumnam Radheshyam.
Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti, Oinam AC MLA Irengbam Nalini and Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar took part in the social service.
At the launch of the social service, MHHDCL Chairman Kh Ibomcha said, MANITEX was launched for the first time in 2018 during the first term of Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
MANITEX is organised with the aim to promote traditional handloom and handicraft products and improve the economy of the State.
"The expo provides the best of the opportunities for weavers and craftsmen in the State to exhibit and sell their products.
Our local weavers and craftsmen have the skill and the potential to produce handloom and handicraft products sought by people all over India and abroad," he said.
Urging weavers and craftsmen to continue to hone their skills, he appealed to the people to promote and use local products and reduce dependence on imported products.
He also sought the support of the people in making the MANITEX 2022 a grand success.
Handloom and Textiles Director K Lamlee Kamei, MHHDCL Managing Director E Jeeten and many Government officials were present.
