24th Conference of Manipur Loumee Marup held

The 24th Conference of Manipur Loumee Marup was held today at Manipur Hindi Parishad Hall, Old Assembly Road.
The conference commenced with the hoisting of the red flag of Manipur Loumee Marup by Hijam Indukumar, nephew of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot, said a statement by the Lup.
It may be noted that Manipur Loumee Marup is affiliated to All India Kisan Sabha.
Speaking during the delegate session of the conference, All India Kisan Sabha Joint Secretary, Vijoo Krishnan who is also one of the prominent leaders of Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) highlighted the importance of cohesive efforts of farmers to fight against any form of oppressive acts towards the farmers.
He also stressed on the need of strengthening Manipur Loumee Marup, a pioneering farmers' body which is actively involved in working for welfare of farmers in the State.
During the conference, a charter of demand consisting of 12 demands concerning the issues of farmers was raised.
Some of the important demands include the demand of monthly pension of Rs 2000 to farmers who are above 60 years, effective implementation of The Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act, strengthen Public Distribution System (PDS) in the State and repair the roads and bridges of rural areas to aid in smooth transportation of agricultural goods among others.
Hijam Indukumar, Potsangbam Bokul and Nongmaithem Thoiba graced the occasion as the presidium members.
Delegates who will participate in the 35 th National Conference of All India Kisan Sabha to be held at Thrissur in Kerala from December 13-16, 2022 were also selected today.
Sarat Salam, Loktongbam Sanatomba and Huiningsumbam Sanayaima were selected as delegates while Yumnam Sarat as the alternative delegate.
