Chavang Kut 2022 celebrated at Phaitol, Saihenjang

Kut District Committee Jiribam and Tamenglong organised Chavang Kut celebration 2022 today under the theme 'Kut for Unity' at Phaitol village playground in Tousem sub division under Tamenglong district.
The morning session of today's celebration witnessed the attendance of Awangbow Newmai, Minister of Water Resources & Relief and Disaster Management; L Lhingneikim Mate, Assistant Labour Commissioner; Hatlhing Doungel, former EM ADC, Tamenglong; K Sarat Kumar Singh, General Secretary, BJP Manipur Pradesh; Akash Kumar, Commandant, 39th Bn AR BHQ, Mashimpur as the presidium members.
Speaking as the chief guest, Awangbow Newmai said that Kut festival is a time for people to come together and remember the Almighty who created everyone and everything in their lives.
He added that this festival is of great importance to the Kuki-Chin-Mizo community as it unites people and the gay atmosphere makes relieves them of their worries.
Khaidoukup Ngaihte also addressed the gathering and expressed joy at the participation of Khasi, Naga and Meitei brethren in the festival.
The goal of the festival is to unite all communities, and discourage divisions along tribal lines, he said.
Separately, Loktak Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a village level Kut festival in coordination with Saihenjang Village Authority in Churachandpur today.
The event was conducted with an aim to enhance bonhomie with the local villagers and celebrate the harvesting season and deep synergy between Assam Rifles and the local populace.
Villagers from the vicinity attended the festival and expressed gratitude towards the AR for undertaking such an initiative.
The event was followed by a friendly volleyball and football match between Assam Rifles and the villagers.
