Imphal, November 01 2022:
While denouncing the government's alleged indifferent attitude towards the demands of All Manipur Health Services Doctors' Association (AMHSDA) even after cautioning of launching intense agitation if the former fads to fulfil the demands by October 31, doctors under the Association donned black badges in protest on Tuesday.
The demands made by AMHSDA include time-bound promotion; extension of retirement age of specialist and non-specialist doctors up to 65 years; creation of director general post for directorates of Health Services, Family Welfare Services, Public Health and Medical Education; fixation of NPA with retrospective effect from January 1, 2016 as per the 7th CPC; strict adherence to Transfer and Posting Policy of Health Services 2017; allowing MHS doctors to take top posts on seniority basis; implementation of Proposed MHS Rules 2020 and Amendments; and provision of allowances for postings in difficult areas.
The Association had been pursuing the aforementioned demands since August 24, 2021 and submitted memorandums to the government four times.
On October 19, AMHSDA issued an ultimatum on the matter.
However, as there was no response from the government, doctors under the Association decided to don black badges in protest while on duty.
