CM preaches peaceful co-existence at Kut event

The largest post-harvest festival of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo tribes popularly known as Kut was celebrated widely across the state on Tuesday with the state level celebration held at Peace ground, Tuibong in Churachandpur district with chief minister N Biren Singh as chief guest.
Addressing the gathering at the state level Kut celebration held under the theme 'Unity through culture', chief minister N Biren said that all the indigenous people of Manipur have been living together with peace and harmony since time immemorial and will continue to live together as usual.
He said that all the communities inhabiting Manipur since time immemorial must respect and honour each other and no difference should be made between them.
Lauding different cultural troupes showcasing their dance forms in their beautiful traditional attires, the chief minister said that this is the beauty of Manipur and India which emphasises on the beauty of India's unity in diversity.
Mentioning that Manipur is home to over.
30 smaller communities, the chief minister urged the people of Churachandpur to get ready for Sangai Festival which will be celebrated this month.
Stating that festivals like Kut bring the people together, the chief minister lauded all the participants from different communities and organisers of the festival.
While claiming that the state is moving to the path of speedy development and the present government will take development to all the corners of the state, the chief minister said that Henglep area in Churachandpur district remained un-developed for a long time but a road project worth Rs 130 crore has been sanctioned for Henglep under the keen initiative of the present government.
He also said that the present government has plans to develop Behiang as a commercial hub like Moreh for which the government is targeting to upgrade the Behiang road to a national highway.
People can bring up any issue of discontentment before the government through their representatives or to him directly, Biren said and announced to provide the required fund of Rs 1.5 crore for completion of the stadium at Peace Ground, Churachandpur.
"Delighted to have at tended the State Level Kut 2022 festival in the presence of Hon'ble Ministers, Hon'ble MLAs and other esteemed dignitaries at Peace Ground, Tuibong, Churachandpur Headquarters", CM Biren posted on Facebook.
He further said that "Let the auspicious occasion of Chavang Kut magnify our capabilities to share more, fill our hearts with gratitude and inspire the people to move forward in unison towards a harmonious co-existence" .
The state level Kut celebration was also attended by commerce and industries minister Nemcha Kipgen, CAF & PD minister L Susindro Meitei, social welfare minister H Dingo Singh, MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, MLAs, DGP, officials of district administration, Churachandpur and leaders of civil society organisations among others.
In her speech, Nemcha Kipgen stated that Kut is the biggest and most popular festival of the Chin-Kuki-Mizo tribes and Kut celebrations had become even more important, relevant and meaningful as it promotes the essence of brotherhood among different communities.
She expressed hope that Kut festival will be a harbinger of good tidings for all of us.
Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba appreciated the theme of the Kut 2022 'Unity through culture' and said that Manipur is a state where people of different communities with their own ways of life, culture, religion and tradition live together.
He appealed to all to continue living together in peace and unity and to bring development in the state.
Chavang Kut is one of the grandest festivals celebrated in Manipur.
The festival is widely celebrated by Chin-Kuki-Mizo communities as a thanksgiving festival for a good harvest.
During the festival, young and old alike are involved in traditional dances, songs and indigenous games, which is a good way to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the communities.
The festival was also celebrated in various parts of the state, including Moreh and Chandel.
This is the festival where people from different communities cutting across boundaries come together and foster friendship among others.
