Drive to check food adulteration begins

In line with the two-week nationwide campaign against adulteration of edible oils, the Food Safety Department, Churachandpur on Monday started its anti-adulteration drive, which will continue till August 14 .
The campaign is in compliance with the direction of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and it will be carried out in all the states and union territories of the country.
The main objective of the campaign is to check adulteration in edible oils - limits of trans-fatty acids, labelling provisions and mandatory AGMARK license.
On Monday, the Food Safety Department conducted checking at various variety shops in Churachandpur town under the supervision of food safety administration officer Arun.
