Imphal, August 01 2022:
While informing that its volunteers conducted drive at Nongthomband, Sekmai along the National Highway No 2 to check whether or not outsiders who are coming into the state on passenger vehicles possess the requisite Inner Line Permit, Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) said that more than 300 non-local passengers were checked of which some of them did not have the permit.
In a release, JCILPS co-convenor Wareppam Second said that the passenger vehicles were made to return towards Mao for obtaining the requisite permits and made the drivers liable.
He said that they contacted Mao police station officer in-charge and advised to remain on high alert.
Urging passenger service operators not to entertain outsiders who do not have the permit, Second appealed to the authorities at Mao gate providing permit to outsiders to work sincerely in the interest of Manipur and ensure that the non-locals possess the requisite permit at any cost.
Most of the non-locals coming into the state are labourers, however, according to ILP system guidelines, company/firm concerned needs approval from the deputy labour commissioner so that non-local labourers possess the required permit, he pointed out.
Second also appealed to the government to seriously look into issuance of permit to labourersat Mao, Jiribam and other checkpoints.
