Imphal, August 01 2022:
Volunteers of the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) conducted a drive checking passenger vehicles entering the State at Awang Sekmai Nongthongband along NH-2 today.
According to a statement issued by JCILPS, around 300 non-local passengers were checked for valid ILP cards during the drive.
Some of these non-locals were found entering the State without the necessary ILP card, the statement informed.
The respective drivers were held responsible for their permit-less passengers and made to turn back and procure the necessary permit from the authorities at Mao Gate.
JCILPS also reached out to Mao OC with the request for more stringent measures in this regard.
The statement has notified passenger service drivers to refrain from providing service to any passengers without the necessary ILP card.
JCILPS has also made an appeal to the authorities involved in issuing ILPs at Mao Gate to exercise due diligence in handing out these permits to non-locals entering the State.
The statement also urged the State administration to look into the alleged indiscriminate issuing of ILP cards at Mao, Jiribam etc.
