Thoubal FSA conducts food safety drive

Food Safety Administration, Thoubal on Monday carried out a special drive inside DC Complex and at premises of various offices in the district.
Under the instruction of Thoubal deputy commissioner, who is also the chairperson of District Level Advisory Committee of Food Safety and Standard Enforcement, inspections and drives were carried out inside DC office campus and other office campuses such as District hospital canteen, District and Sessions Court complex, District Transport Office complex, District Cooperative Society, and CMO complex shops to check sale and use of contraband tobacco products including betel quid; Pan masala, Gurkha, Khaini and other products containing tobacco and also seized the products from the defaulters.
Most of the canteens and shops inside DC campus had stopped selling banned items after Designated Officer and FSO had directed not to sell such items but few shops were found selling such items.
Legal actions would be initiated as per the law against shops and shopkeepers found selling tobacco items.
Such drive will be carried out continuously.
On July 29, DLAC chairperson on Food Safety Administration issued an order banning the sale and consumption of tobacco and nicotine containing food items.
