Aadhaar collection programme launched at various places

District Election Officer Ukhrul, Krishna Kumar today launched the "Collection of Aadhaar number from existing electors/citizens seeking registration in electoral roll" for 3 Assembly Constituencies of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts at DC Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat office complex Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
Speaking on the occasion, Krishna Kumar highlighted the new amendments of ECI and added that the collection of Aadhaar for linking and authentication of electoral rolls is conducted to ensure transparent conduct of election, avoid duplicity and check doubling of EPIC.
"The appointed BLOs of the 3 ACs namely 43-Phungyar (ST) AC, 44-Ukhrul (ST) AC and 45-Chingai (ST) AC will visit all polling stations to collect Aadhaar numbers", said the DEO while adding that the collected documents will be digitised in Garuda App for updation.
"The ECI, to facilitate registration of youths, will update electoral roll every quarter and new dates for registration of eligible persons - January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 have been fixed for public convenience", said Chunglenmang Kipgen, Additional DEO Ukhrul.
"Electors can also directly link and authenticate their Aadhaar with electoral rolls through online registration by visiting ECI portal while offline submission can be done in the District Election Office Ukhrul", he added.
SDO Ukhrul, Maibam Suranjoy; LM Block SDO, Lalthanzam; representatives of political parties and local leaders took part in the event.
Similarly, District Election Office Thoubal, A Subhash Singh also launched the collection of Aadhaar Number today at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner Thoubal.
