Imphal, August 20 2026:
The Association of Healthcare Providers (India), (AHPI), Manipur Chapter has appealed to all concerned to allow free passage of patients and attendants, healthcare workers carrying valid IDs, ambulances and vehicles supporting essential medical services during general strikes, bandhs and blockades.
A press release issued by AHPI Manipur Chapter said that they received reports from member hospitals of obstruction and disruption of healthcare services during the 48-hour general strike which commenced from the midnight of August 17 .
Pointing out that any obstruction to patients, healthcare workers, ambulances or essential medical services can delay treatment and potentially put lives at risk, it said that access to healthcare must remain unhindered.
"The right to protest and our civic responsibility to protect life must go hand in hand.
Let compassion and civic sense prevail so that no patient is denied or delayed access to healthcare", it added.
