Imphal, March 29 2022:
Two NPP MLAs Khuraijam Loken (Wangoi) and N Kayisii (Tadubi) are staying in the national capital and meeting with BJP leaders along with NPP national president and Meghalaya chief minister Conrad Sangma.
After BJP won absolute majority with 32 seats in the recent state assembly elections, NPP announced its decision to support the government.
While making the announcement, Conrad Sangma had stated that NPP is a partner of NDA at the Centre and an ally of NEDA.
He also said that the party will wait and watch how BJP responds to the proposal.
In the meantime, Assam chief minister and NEDA convener Himanta Biswa Sarma and Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma signed an agreement ending the decades long boundary dispute between the two states.
The agreement was signed in the presence of union home minister Amit Shah.
Taking advantage of the event, Conrad Sangma might have pressed the union home minister for ministerial berth to NPP in the state, sources said.
