Imphal, March 29 2022:
Pointing out the unavailability of textbooks for Class I-X in stores despite resumption of normal classes following improvement in Covid-19 situation, Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) has urged the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) and the government authorities to take up necessary initiatives for ensuring availability of the textbooks to the students at the earliest.
In a release, FESOK secretary N Rikesh Mangang said that BSEM generally publishes the text books of Class I to X after printing press/firms produce the same.
The dearth of textbooks in book stores is because the printing press/firms did not print adequate number of books considering the panderflic situation, he observed.
Informing that FESOK went to several bookstores in Imphal and several other parts of the state to check the availability of text books, Rikesh revealed that several textbooks particularly that of Social Science, Hindi.
Manipuri, English, Higher Mathematics, Additional English and supplementary reader were found unavailable.
The organisation will look into the activities of BSEM and the government seriously if they failed to ensure adequate availability of textbooks in time, he asserted, while urging printing press/ftrms to complete printing of the remaining books at the earliest.
