Imphal, March 29 2022:
President of Shiv Sena, State unit M Tombi has categorically stated that imposing economic blockade along the National Highways is a habitual trait of Nagaland based organisations for any frustration since the last 70 years and questioned why the Government of Nagaland is still silent though the ban on Manipur vehicle in Nagaland has crossed more than one week.
Speaking to media persons at Babupara today, M Tombi continued that many drivers are still vulnerable to threats while many have died at the hands of lawbreakers on highways due to torching and pushing down of vehicles into gorge among many other instances though India got independence 75 years ago.
Saying that Manipur has even witnessed a blockade that lasted over three months in the past, Tombi asked how long the people of Manipur have to endure such harassment.

He also stated that certain elements are still scheming to snatch the land of Manipur and this threat is nothing new.
Continuing that collective effort is required to protect the boundary of Manipur, M Tombi lauded Chief Minister N Biren for his stand on the issue.
Many organisations in Assam have started a counter blockade against the restrictions being placed on Manipur bound vehicles along National Highway 2, he reminded and added that such acknowledgment of our woes by the brothers and sisters in Assam deserves utmost appreciation.
Stating that people of Manipur should not wait for the Government response when the territory of the State is in danger, he added that taking the Silchar road for heading to Manipur is one way though it is expensive and inconveniences the drivers, passengers and vehicle owners.
Continuing that the demand to remove the police outpost from the Manipur side of Dzuko valley by a Nagaland based organisation is illogical as the outpost was established to protect the live of people there, M Tombi added that Manipur have never claimed even an inch of Nagaland's land as theirs.
Asking why Southern Angami People's Organisation is imposing an indefinite bandh on Nagaland portion of National Highway 2 to place their illogical demand, M Tombi educated that the highway stretch passing through Nagaland is not the property of Nagaland but of the people.
He further stated the disputed site belongs to Manipur and no amount of argument can deny the fact.
If the Government cannot solve this chronic issue, it is better to build a wall at Mao and repair Imphal-Jiribam road which is only 225 km long and place Highway Protection Force every 10 km, he opined.
Denouncing the silence of Nagaland Government on the matter, M Tombi asked why the Central Government is still maintaining a stoic silence though the bandh has already entered the 9th day.
People are just breathing a sigh of relief after going through a tough period of Covid pandemic, he asserted and appealed to the Central Government to do the needful and solve the issue before the Parliament session is adjourned.
