Jiribam, March 29 2022:
Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) has warned of launching intense forms of agitation from April 3 if NHIDCL authority fails to clarify within four days whether the compensation amount for land owners affected by expansion of NH-37 (Imphal-Jiribam) road at seven portions of Jiribam district had been sanctioned or not.
Announcing this during a press conference held at its Babupara office here on Tuesday, JDO president N Sadananda said that leaders of clubs and organisations situated along NH-37 road in Jiribam convened a press conference on March 23 and asked Jiribam and Tamenglong DCs and NHIDCL authority to clarify within three days about the compensation for land owners of Jiribam district affected by NH-37 expansion.
Accordingly, Jiribam DC convened a joint meeting with Jiribam SP, SDC, SDO, leaders of local clubs and associations and deputy general manager of NHIDCL, PMU-Noney on Monday.
However, deputy general manager of NHIDCL, PMU-Noney did not turn up at the meet but sent two/three staff and hence the staffers could not give concrete answer.
Understanding the situation, Jiribam DC then scheduled another joint meeting on April 6 with physical presence of deputy general manager of NHIDCL, PMU-Noney, Sadananda added.
According to Sadananda, absence of deputy general manager of NHIDCL, PMU-Noney in the crucial joint meet called by Jiribam DC indeed was not only a challenge and disrespect to Jiribam public but also dereliction of his duty.
There is afso apprehension among Jiribam public that compensation amount for land owners at seven portions of Jiribam district affected by NH 37 expansion had been sanctioned already but there is no clarify on this matter.
Survey for the road was conducted in 2015 and there is report of the Tamenglong DC claiming completion of survey over a distance of 220km out of the total 221km between Imphal and Jiribam.
If the report is true, then Jiribam portion of the road remains only 1 km, Sadananda said and maintained that NHIDCL should not accept whatever the then DC Tamenglong did and there must be a clear cut boundary between Tamenglong and Jiribam districts.
Sadananda then appealed to the chief minister, NHIDCL and DCs concerned to clarify within four days if the compensation amount for seven portions of Jiribam district affected by NH-37 widening had been sanctioned or not or else the organisation in coordination with Jiribam public will launch intense forms of agitation from April 3.The press conference was also attended by other leaders of JDO and representatives of clubs and organisations of Jiribam.
