All Manipur MidDay Meal Workers' Association general secretary Arambam Thoi Chanu has announced that all workers will cease work on December 11 and stage sit-in protests against the non-increment of honorarium even after 18 years of launch of the programme.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club, here, Sunday, Arambam Thoi said that the monthly honorarium of Rs 1000 paid to midday meal workers is not in tune with the changing times.
The matter was brought up at the All India Conference held in Hyderabad from November 4 and 5, wherein the leaders concerned assured of doing the needful.

Stating that the state government has not put forward any share towards the funds sanctioned for the programme by the central government, the general secretary said that the wage paid to the workers is not enough for them to take care of their families.
