NCC anniversary

National Cadet Corps (NCC) celebrated the 75th anniversary of its raising day today at the NCC Group Headquarter Imphal located at Dhanamanjuri University campus.
Brig Sandeep Jhunja, Group Commander, NCC Group Headquarter Imphal kicked off the event with a flag hoisting ceremony.
A blood donation camp was also conducted in collaboration with RIMS Hospital to commemorate the 75th anniversary.
Aside from this, the cadets organised a cultural program filled with song and dance performances.
Speaking on the occasion, Brig Sandeep Jhunja shared that currently the total strength of NCC in Manipur is 7,800.He stated that in order to expand this number, there are plans to establish NCC units at various schools and colleges across the State and exuded confidence of receiving necessary help from the State Government in this regard.
Lauding the cadets of Manipur, he shared that out of 7 North East region NCC competitions held over the last 11 months, State cadets had bagged the first position in six competitions.
He also commended them for their professionalism, confidence and excellent performance.
"The self-confidence that NCC has inculcated in them will enable them to choose the right future for themselves", he maintained.
Further, he also recalled that one female cadet, NCC Senior Under Officer Miranda Thongam, had attended a youth exchange program in Vietnam as part of a delegation consisting of 12 cadets.
Currently, a male cadet is competing in the National Shooting Competition, he added.
Brig Sandeep Jhunja then highlighted the role of NCC cadets in uniting the nation.
In this regard, he stated that NCC camps are organised in different comers of the country and cadets from different regions come together and create bonds of friendship.
"This is the best example of unity in diversity", he maintained.
