IW crowned champions of State Level Boxing Championships

Imphal, November 27 2022:
Imphal West amassed 22 gold, 11 silver and 9 bronze medals to secure overall champions at the State Level Boxing Championships organised by Manipur Amateur Boxing Association at Khuman Lampak Boxing Arena.
Bishnupur finished first runners up in the championship with 11 gold, 10 silver and 7 bronze medals as Imphal East finished second runners up with 7 gold, 13 silver and 9 bronze medals.
L Edison (57 kg) of IW was adjudged best boxer among men while Venika Yumnam (48 kg) of Bishnupur bagged the best women boxer title.
Md Abdul Noor of IE (40 kg) and Thokchom Priyanka of Kakching (52 kg) were named best men and women losers while Wangchipei Zimik of Ukhrul and H Lingjel Chanu of IW were declared best promising boxers.
The last day of the championship saw Keisham Sanjit seal the Elite men's 48 kg title with a 5-0 crushing of S Suresh of Bishnupur.
Thongam Lanchenbee Chanu of IW (52 kg) and Ningthoujam Manda of Thoubal (54 kg) sealed gold medals in youth women's competitions as Ahongshangbam Kajal of Imphal West claimed the 60 kg category crown with a 5-0 overwhelming of Kakching's Leishangthem Manda.
Thoubal's Bindiya Naorem bagged the Elite women's 63 kg category title with a 4-1 win over Kangpokpi's Tingneilhing Chongloi in the final bout today.
In other final bouts of Elite category, Sovi Jajo of Kamjong (60 kg), Huidrom Ambeshori of Imphal West (57 kg), Thounaojam Ojibala (54 kg), Ashalata Huiningshumbam of Bishnupur (50 kg) and Tingmila Doungel of Kangpokpi (48 kg) also won gold medals.
