Jiribam, November 27 2022:
While maintaining that no land of Jiribam district could be lost, Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) declared that anyone who challenged existing jurisdiction of Jiribam district will be treated as enemy of Jiribam.
Declaring this in a press conference at its office Saturday, JDO president N Sad-ananda said the directorate of settlement and land records issued demarcation order recently but putting Motorkhong, Phaital and Leingangpokpi as disputed area in the order was very unfortunate as all these areas fall under Jiribam district.
Motorkhong, Phaital and Leingangpokpi fall under Jiribam district since time immemorial and even figured in Jiribam land records maintained under MLR & LR Act.
However, it was very unfortunate that the official concerned put these areas as disputed in the demarcation order, N Sadananda said and demanded immediate removal of the word 'disputed' from the said order.
According to Sadananda, JDO leaders were aware of arrival of officials of the directorate of settlement from Imphal in Jiribam and survey conducted at areas along with DCs and staff of Tamenglong and Jiribam.
Before the survey, DC Jiribam appealed to JDO leaders not to take part the survey as it was to be done by DCs and staff of Jiribam and Tamenglong only.
Accordingly, no Jiribam residents took part the survey.
However, JDO leaders were compelled to visit the areas on the third day of the survey after learning that some CSOs of Tamenglong obstructed the survey.
Just when JDO leaders reached the survey spot, the survey team hastily ended their activities and left, he said and strongly condemned the manner in which the survey team unwarrantedly halted the exercise.
When approached through phone, the survey team told JDO leaders that the survey was conducted as per land records and there was no dispute.
However, it was found that two agreements were found signed in complete contrast to what the survey team had told JDO leaders.
The agreements were found signed on November 24 though the survey was conducted on November 25, N Sadananda said adding that the agreements cannot be valid.
