Renovation of Thong Nambonbi likely

Talks are underway with the Archeological Survey of India to renovate the historic Thong Nambonbi (Maharani bridge) at Khwairamband Keithel, said Chief Minister N Biren Singh today.
He said this while dedicating the newly renovated statue of Maharaj Bheigyachandra to the people at the Khwairamband Keithel.
Speaking as chief guest, Chief Minister N Biren Singh said it is the duty of the present generation to preserve and protect the landmark statues and monuments of the heroes and forefathers who guarded and protected the Manipuri society.
The statue was renovated to preserve and promote history.
It also has descriptions about its history, who and why it was built for information and knowledge so that the people as well as tourists can learn easily, he said.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh also informed that delegates of G20 Summit will be visiting Manipur in February next year.
India hosting the G20 Summit was a "distant dream", but under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the summit is going to be held in India.
When the summit will be mainly held at Delhi and Mumbai, delegates of the member countries will be visiting each State in India.
The delegates will visit Manipur during February 2023, he said.
Issues relating to Manipur will be discussed when they visit, he added.
Rajya Sabha MP Leishemba Sanajaoba, Art and Culture Commissioner M Joy, Director L Keshoijit Manipur State Archeology Superintendent K Sashikanta and womenfolk of Khwairamband attended the event.
