Sangai Festival: CCpur edition ends on high note

Manipur Sangai Festival, Churachandpur chapter came to an end on a high note with a blend of rock, folk dances, popular music, cultural shows and fashion show marking the three-day festival at Lamka public ground, here, on Saturday.
All roads led to Lamka Public ground here on Saturday evening to witness the fun-filled entertainment programme as part of the on-going Manipur Sangai Festival 2022 .
The evening programme began with colourful cultural dances and climaxed with electrifying fashion show and lively musical presentation.
Salulap Lam by Thadou Cultural Troupe, tribal cultural fusion by We Dance Academy, musical presentation by E-Rose (an all-girl band) and Pengpelep set the vibe in the evening and the programme gradually progressed to the much-anticipated fashion show by designer Robert Naorem.
Amidst the cheers, models from the state and outside sashayed the ramp until the show reached a feverish pitch with show stopper Miss Universe 2000 Lara Dutta, whose appearance drove the jam-packed crowd to frenzy.
Mizoram-based band 'Sound from the Hills' took the stage to continue the ambience and led the event to an end on a high note.
Other performers of the evening included Anggu Singsit and Rayburn College choir.
The programme was at tended by MAHUD minister Yumnam Khemchand as chief guest, while trade, commerce & industries minister Nemcha Kipgen, who is also the minister in-charge for MSF Churachandpur 2022 was present as special guest and Churachandpur MLA LM Khaute as functional president.
Thanlon MLA & adviser to CM Vungzagin Valte; Singhat MLA Chinlunthang Manlun; Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip; Henglep MLA Letzamang Haokip; Churachandpur deputy commissioner Sharath Chandra Arroju; other high ranking government officials and district level officers also attended the programme amongst others.
Earlier, while talking to media persons, Lara Dutta described her trip to Churachandpur as a very special one and exclaimed that she finds everything in Manipur good and special.
She also said that her trip to Manipur's Churachandpur is her first visit to North East India.
Lara Dutta also mentioned that her father, who was in Indian Air Force and posted in Imphal had told her that during that time it took two hours to reach Churachandpur without proper road connectivity.
Compared to what her father told her, Lara Dutta said the infrastructure created at present is admirable and the Festival will go a long way in uniting the people including the tribal areas.
Lara Dutta further said she felt special while walking the ramp and blessed to be in this part of the land.
She also mentioned that she has tasted the traditional foods like 'Singju' and 'Bora' and found them fantastic.
